Friday Funny: No Time to Explain

15 02 2013

It’s been about 47.2 months since I’ve done a Friday Funny post and I’m in the need for some funny so I decided today’s the day to break the slump!  I love today’s photo for a few reasons:

  1. I am a sucker for photos of an animals that include funny captions of what they’re saying/thinking.  Yes, I might be addicted to I Has a Hotdog.
  2. It features a Boston Terrier.  Obviously.
  3. I love this Bostie’s floppy ears and pudgy middle and distinguished-grumpy face.  I want to squeeze him!
  4. I like to imagine the whole story behind this one photo.  What happened – why is there no time to explain?  Where are we going?  What’s on the mix – please say, “ZZ Ward.”  Do we have enough time to run through Wendy’s for spicy chicken sandies?  Are we allowed to take bathroom breaks?  Are we going to cross state lines?  Did you remember to pack my tempurpedic pillow?

Plus, since this weekend is President’s Day weekend, some of you all might be traveling, maybe taking a road trip, maybe with your dog…anyway, there’s no time to explain!

No Time to Explain Boston

The photo is from Funny or Die’s slideshow, “Sh*t, There’s No Time to Explain…Get In.”  The slide show is pretty darn funny so if you crave more, ah!, there’s no time to explain, just go look.

Friday Funny: Puppy Conan

10 02 2012

If you’re a dog lover (I imagine you are if you’re reading a blog about a silly Boston Terrier named Hamlet), you’re probably familiar with Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl that airs during the Super Bowl.  At my house, we usually change the channel to Puppy Bowl a couple of times throughout the game just to see what those sweet pooches are up to.  This year, we were lucky enough to witness a rare puppy touchdown.  It sounds silly but all eight adults in my living room were cheering and excited.  While describing the scene, I’m realizing we are very easily amused

This week’s Friday Funny is courtesy of my favorite late night talk show host, Conan O’Brien.  Or, if you’re in the know, “Coco.”  Because of the popularity of the Puppy Bowl, Conan decided to puppy-cize his show and I just can’t get over how cute the results are.  Puppy Andy (Conan’s co-host, Andy Richter) is my favorite.

I am currently saving my pennies to buy Hamlet the genuine leather dog couch he’s been pining after, so I’ll just have to link to the video rather than shelling over the dough to WordPress to allow videos on my blog.  Yes, you’re allowed to call me “cheapskate” but I much prefer “frugal,” thank you.  Without further ado, PUPPY CONAN.

Do you watch Puppy Bowl?  Do you watch Conan?  While we’re on the subject, is anyone else disappointed that The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season is over?  Is anyone still reading?  Probably not, I imagine I lost you at “Real Housewives.”

Friday Funny: Berkley Illustrations

14 10 2011

Thanks to the latest post from Urban Grace Interiors I was turned on to Berkley Illustrations, a lovely Etsy shop of animal art prints.  These are no ordinary animals, though, as evidenced by the dapper Labrador below.

I am getting the biggest kick out of animals in fancy dress!  It doesn’t stop at dogs, though.  Berkley Illustrations has lions, cheetahs, sloths, goats, even Tyrannosaurus Rex.  There are ladies as well as men – check out the classy cow.  And the goat eating his own tie?  Kills me!

I am also loving the high school superlative magnets!  Best eyes for the deer, get it?

Of course Shark wins best smile with his toothy grin.  Don’t miss Lion hanging out in the corner.

And the yearbook pages used as a background, just the frosting on this delicious funfetti cake!  You can check out all of the Berkley Illustrations goodness in their Etsy shop.  I think a few of these would be fantastic in a kid’s room or nursery.  Or my master bedroom but don’t tell the boy fiancé I said that, not sure if he’d agree.

Friday Funny: Don’t Mess With the Old Dogs

22 07 2011

Today’s Friday Funny comes in the form of a little story, sent to me by my madre.  It’s one of those silly email forwards but I thought you all might get a kick out of it.

One day an old German Shepherd starts chasing rabbits and before long, discovers that he’s lost.  Wandering about, he notices a panther heading rapidly in his direction with the intention of having lunch.

The old German Shepherd thinks, “Uh, oh! I’m in deep doo-doo now!”

Noticing some bones on the ground close by, he immediately settles down to chew on the bones with his back to the approaching cat.  Just as the panther is about to leap, the old German Shepherd exclaims loudly, “Boy, that was one delicious panther! I wonder if there are any more around here?”
Hearing this, the young panther halts his attack in mid-strike, a look of terror comes over him and he slinks away into the trees.  “Whew!” says the panther, “That was close! That old German Shepherd nearly had me!”

Meanwhile, a squirrel who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree, figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the panther.  The squirrel soon catches up with the panther, spills the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the panther.

The young panther is furious at being made a fool of and says, “Here, squirrel, hop on my back and see what’s going to happen to that conniving canine!”

Now, the old German Shepherd sees the panther coming with the squirrel on his back and thinks, “What am I going to do now?”  But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn’t seen them yet, and just when they get close enough to hear, the old German Shepherd says, “Where’s that squirrel? I sent him off an hour ago to bring me another panther!”

Moral of this story…Don’t mess with the old dogs.  Age and skill will always overcome youth and treachery!  BS and brilliance only come with age and experience.

Friday Funny: But I’m 21 In Dog Years

17 06 2011

Hamlet tried to get into each and every casino we walked by in Cripple Creek, Colorado.  Unfortunately dog years don’t count.

Friday Funny: Miss Daisy Shouldn’t Be Driving

13 05 2011

How do you know when it’s time to call it quits on driving and hang up the car keys?  I’d say when your dog has this look on his face…

Thanks to my mom (a.k.a. Gram of Ham) for sending this via email.

Friday Funny: Pug Recall

29 04 2011

According to The Onion newspaper, breeders have issued a massive recall for all 2007 model Pugs.  The picture below illustrates some of the common defects with Pugs that initiated the recall, the most glaring of which in my opinion is that the folds of skin eventually smother the dog.

You can read the full article from The Onion website here.

*If you’re not familiar, The Onion is a satirical newspaper so no aspect of the Pug recall story should be taken seriously; it is for entertainment purposes only.  Still confused?  Read more about The Onion on Wikipedia.
